CasinoCamper Report, April 2007
RV Parking: We visited the IP on April 21, 2007 and I talked with security about RV parking. They have two lots where you can park. One is the far west side of the west lot (West of Caillavet Street) the other is in the lot south of the casino, across Bayview Ave. Security told me this is a new thing for them, and they're considering a more formalized process; having everyone check in and get a pass to put in the window, but haven't done this as yet.
At this time they just ask that you keep your area clean, don't "set up camp", and don't take up residence. He also told me that security patrols the lot, and a shuttle van drives around and will pick you up, but the casino isn't too far away to walk. See photos below and click on the Google map above to see the area.
Gambling: The poker room has good tournaments and live games as well. Tournaments are very well managed, rules are enforced, periods are closely monitored, etc. Video poker is OK.
Food: We ate at the coffee shop, which they call the High Tide Cafe. We had sandwiches and they were very good. In the past (pre Katrina) the coffee shop had been one of the OK restaurants here. We also ate the buffet, and it was good. Seafood was all OK, vegetables were good, not overcooked, meats seemed good quality, etc. Plenty of deserts. Overall a good variety and good food.
